Caley is originally an East Coaster who fell in love with San Francisco after moving to the city upon graduating from UC Berkeley. As a Hayes Valley homeowner, Caley started purchasing real estate to create a home for herself and is now an active real estate investor in the Bay. Her penchant for interior design and home renovations has inspired her own home renovations (including installing a new kitchen and building out an attic herself!) With experience in consulting, tech, and venture capital, Caley pairs structure and strategy with creativity as a home-buying and selling approach. She loves meeting new people and building upon her community.
In her spare time, Caley enjoys playing pickleball, taking her dog to the park, and browsing antique shops. She is constantly exploring new restaurants and has recently started crabbing and fishing on the beautiful California coast.
Most treasured antique find?
One of my favorite antique finds is an old Eames-styled lounge chair. It is made of old wood, creaks a little when you sit in it, and needed some leather polish - but it has a ton of character! I love reading in this chair by the window with a cup of coffee.
Favorite DIY project to-date?
My favorite DIY project in my home is discovering an attic space and finishing that out. My home is over 100 years old and I discovered that there was an attic underneath the pitched roof. The room was just redwood beams and old insulation. With some new materials, a lot of sweat, and a little help - I've turned this space into a usable storage and work space! (And now I have more space to store my antique finds).
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your investment journey?
The biggest lesson for me is to separate an investment property and a property you plan to live in - the investment property should be only about the numbers. This is often hard to do as I love homes that have character or feel like a place I could live in, but if the numbers don't work, it's not a good investment!
